Ranveer Singh compares his role in 'Padmavati' to that of Joker from 'The Dark Knight'

There is no doubt that Ranveer Singh is one of the best things to have happened to Bollywood in a long time. With his infectious energy and fantastic acting skills, the actor has managed to become one of the most sought-after and bankable stars in the industry today. Ranveer will next be seen in a negative role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’ which went on floors yesterday in Mumbai. In a recent interview to Filmfare, Ranveer spilled the beans about his character Alauddin Khilji and how it is as dark and intense as Heath Ledger’s character Joker from ‘The Dark Knight’. “I'm scared of stepping into that rabbit hole. I fear if I go in, I may not come back. Like Heath Ledger. He didn’t come back. He went so far into the rabbit hole that it took away everything from him. I can say I’m living life on the edge.” The actor even confessed that he is scared about stepping into this uncharted territory. “I am absolutely petrified. It takes a lot out of you. Sometimes you feel empty...Like you have got nothing left. I probably may need some mental therapy. It does affect me to that degree. Hopefully, after ‘Padmavati’, I will do something light to keep a balance. I need time to recover. I am on the threshold of entering completely uncharted territory,” he said.
